Doctrine: Orthodoxy, Heresy, and Faith

Orthodoxy and Heresy are sub-categories of faith.
List of some heresies:
o Arianism—Jesus was a creature
o Apollinarianism—Jesus was compromised by being human, so therefore must have had a divine mind rather than a human one
o Pelagianism—humanity is justified on the basis of merit rather than grace; salvation in Christ means imitating him
o Modalism—a desire to safeguard the unity of the God head led some theologians to conclude that the self-revelation of the one and only God took place in different ways at different times:
The one God is revealed in the manner of creator and lawgiver. This aspect of God is referred to as the Father.
The same God is then revealed in the manner of savior in the person of Jesus Christ. This aspect of God is referred to as the Son.
The same God is then revealed in the manner of the one who sanctifies and gives eternal life. This aspect of God is referred to as the Spirit.
Heresy is an inauthentic and inadequate account of the Christian faith, whose inauthenticity and inadequacy are disclosed by critical comparison with orthodoxy.
