44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”

Valuables were often hidden in the ground in a vessel. This parable depicts a man, probably a day laborer, who found a treasure and then gave everything up for it. The point of the parable is the whole-hearted response and joy in finding the kingdom and realizing it is more valuable than anything else.

What is most valuable to you? Jesus? Your job? Your family? Your possessions? Your entertainment? A quick review of your credit card statement or bank account will give you a pretty good sense.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, you have lead me to Jesus. Fill my mind and my soul that he may always be my greatest treasure.
