Pre-Exilic Prophets
Amos’ ministry begins a new period of prophecy leading up to the destruction of Israel in 722 B.C. and Judah in 586 B.C., leading God's people to question if they would see and experience the Kingdom of God.
Exilic and Post-Exilic Prophets
The exilic prophets, Ezekiel and Daniel ministered to the exiles in Babylon. The post-exilic prophets Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi, ministered to the restored community after the return from Babylon. They pointed to a future kingdom
The Kingdom Pattern in Prophecy
All the hope for the future in prophecy is expressed in terms of a return to the Kingdom structures revealed in the history of Israel from the Exodus to Solomon.
Features of the Historic Kingdom Revealed:

o The New Exodus
o The New Covenant: Jeremiah 33:19-26 and 31:31-34
o The New Nation: Ezekiel 36:25-28
o The New Creation: Isaiah 65:17-21
Postscript: when Judah is restored after the Persian takeover in 538 B.C., the situation is to all intents and purposes set for the great day of salvation predicted by the prophets. Through it all a faithful remnant waited for the consolation of Israel.
